Sheva Martin
Development & Wellbeing Worker
Sheva is a Development Worker. The main focus of her role is to support and action the decisions of the Board of Directors on their strategic plans. Sheva is vivacious, creative and 100% committed to the work that Baobab do with migrant and asylum seeking women.
Bridget advocates with women who have been granted residence, helping them with financial transitions. She assists women with benefits including council tax, housing benefit, child benefit and universal credit. She raises awareness of job, skill and volunteer opportunities, and well as provides advice on utilities and grants.
Instead of being a 'caseworker' doing all the work for women, she empowers beneficiaries to understand how to address the problems themselves, mentoring them to take control of the work they can.
Mireille coordinates the Women's Advisory Group, as part of the NRPF Women's Network which atims to tackle issues faced by women who have No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) and experience domestic abuse.​She runs and recruit women to the advisory group, to ensure that services learn from their lived experience and they also learn from partner projects.

Mireille takes on complex casework to assist women who experience Domestic Abuse and have NRPF. She also interprets.
Beth has started to improve our financial effectiveness. She has been developing governance, effective leadership and financial sustainability, while also getting involved with fundraising, building grassroots engagement and establishing better alliances with other women's organisations.
Beth's main role is as a fundraiser. She also does much day to day HR, admin and support for the team.
Sheva has improved our strategic effectiveness, and encouraged women to be more involved in governance. She is Baobabs wellbeing Mentor for staff and runs Group Wellbeing sessions and projects.

NIsha joined us on a placement from Birmingham University in 2024, and has since joined our advocacy team. She supports advocates, and women on our wednesday advocacy day. She answers the phone, signs new women up, does ongoing support, inputs womens issues into our service spreadsheets, does filing, and record keeping. She assists all advocates with casework where needed.

Talhatou works with our accountant at Third Sector Accountancy.​ She has extensive knowledge of Quickbooks and other accountancy tools that we use.
She brings both her technical and personable skills to the role; and is able to manage both complex spreadsheets and the empathetic communication needed when dealing with emergency payments.

As part of her Baobab role, Espoir fosters networks with partner organisations to ensure that asylum seekers and migrants who have been forced into vulnerability are connected with the services and assistance they need. She uses her voice for the marginalised, speaking up to pressure authorities into enacting change on racist and xenophobic policies that target migrants.

She has taken on a asylum and NRPF casework that informs her policy lobbying.

Mohinder is mentoring our casework team to be better, to women, partners and ourselves, slowly and surely improve processes and practice.
​
She has much experience to share from years working with people experiencing trauma from past persecution and violence.
Sarah is our Policy and Advocacy Worker; bringing together the direct support and advice that Baobab offers undocumented women, with raising voices for change.

The Influencers Group work closely with Sarah; taking the findings and evidence from the advocacy project, and raising the voices and experiences of women within the asylum and immigration system with people and in places where there is a chance to make a change.

Amandas Ong, is an anthropologist and researcher who brings several years of trauma-informed training in conflict zones and difficult environments.
Amrita Dhinsa, ​CAAT Activist​, qualified barrister & solicitor Amrita is involved because she believes in Baobab's work and vision. As a director she can input into strategy and draw on her experience in regulation, law and policy.

Beth Ash, Women's Short Stop Accomodation Coordinator, Coventry Migrant Women's House Trustee, Coventry Peace House Coop Member. Beth is involved because she is excited by grass roots community projects, wants to learn more about casework & nurture social change.

Espoir Njei is a prominent community leader within the migrant justice movement in the West Midlands and beyond. Since 2019 she has advocated and sat on the steering group of Baobab Womens Project CIC, she continues to advocate and is now a Director and Paid Influencer.

Sarah Taal has a BA in International Relations, MA in Migration and Social Policy. Former Therapeutic Service, Housing and Women's Refugee and Migrant Project Worker. She is or has been involved in the governance of several destitution organisations including being a Trustee for ASAP.
